Hey, here’s some good news. Lawrence of Cyberia is blogging again. Her fans definitely noted her absence, checking back sadly every few weeks to see her 17.August Quote of the Week ("Israel is running out of time…") and wondering if she’d be coming back. She did! The new quote, from recently deceased soccer hero George Best, is "I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered..."
Lawrence would be well worth reading for her sense of humor alone - but she also happens to be exceptionally knowledgable about the history and people of the Mideast. Even inactive, her site was a great resource. I refer to her Palestinian Biographies all the time. I’m quite eager to hear what she has to say about recent events.
So far, she’s translated a snippet from Israel’s Russian-language paper Novosti Izrailya on Amir Peretz’s attempts to court Russian voters - you can read it here.
